Rosacea Leeds
Causes & Treatment Options

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory skin condition characterised by facial redness, visible blood vessels, and in some cases papules and pustules. It is more common than many people realise, and while it cannot be cured, it can be effectively managed – both with appropriate skincare and with clinical treatment.

What Is Rosacea?

Rosacea is not acne, though it is frequently confused with it. It is a vascular and inflammatory condition that most commonly affects the central face – the cheeks, nose, chin, and forehead – causing persistent redness, visible capillaries, and in some cases papules and pustules. It tends to flare and settle in response to triggers rather than resolving completely.

Common triggers include heat, sun exposure, alcohol, spicy food, stress, and certain skincare products. Identifying and avoiding personal triggers is an important part of management alongside any clinical treatment.

Treatments at Dr Sebastian Bejma Aesthetics

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light)
IPL is one of the most established treatments for the vascular component of rosacea – targeting visible capillaries and diffuse redness with light energy. A course of sessions progressively reduces background redness and visible vessels. IPL has a good evidence base for erythematotelangiectatic rosacea specifically.
Laser
Targeted laser treatment for visible facial vessels and persistent redness that has not responded adequately to IPL. Particularly effective for discrete, prominent capillaries.
Skincare & Medical Management
Appropriate medical skincare is a cornerstone of rosacea management. At Dr Sebastian Bejma Aesthetics, skincare guidance is provided alongside clinical treatment – including advice on trigger avoidance, barrier support, and products appropriate for rosacea-prone skin. Where prescription topical or oral treatment is indicated, this is discussed at consultation.
